Diplo says 2013 is dance music’s year of ‘Musical Fusion’

Globe trotting producer Diplo believes 2013 holds a lot of musical expression and opportunity for dance or EDM producers.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine Thomas Wesley Pentz spoke about how his realisation came at a GRAMMYs after party. “I was at the Cash Money party, went to see Ellie Goulding,” he told Rolling Stone. “To see all these different crews and all the people mingling, it’s awesome.”

The Major Lazer producer who recently delayed the release of their ‘Free the Universe’ album continued “I think 2013 is going to be all about musical fusion – everybody coming together. All the lines have been crossed the last year, so I’m glad to be part of that.”

In fashion to the past few years himself, he is hoping other producers can follow his lead and work with other genre artists. The Mad Decent label owner who launched a premium club where you can own his ashes has spent time over the last few years working with Shaggy, Santigold, Bruno Mars, Snoop Dogg, Wyclef, Tyga, Chris Brown, Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig and more. “We have a big voice. I think a lot of artists are willing to take a chance on working with us.”
