It’s full of beautiful intricacies that your run-of-the-mill pop hit just doesn’t contain. As he began to create his recreation, I imagine the Duke relaxed into the original track’s atmosphere and closed his eyes, watching Aluna’s words floating gently overhead with his mind’s eye.

While snatching snippets of these phrases from the air, he lays down some hi-hats that bounce and skip along, keeping everything tight. Feeding the pieces of Aluna’s thoughts into his own mind, the Duke reprocesses them. They speed up, shift their rhythms, and harmonise with each other; combining and separating as they explore the chemistry of their combinations.

Soon enough, the all-important muscle of the track finds itself fully grown, and bursts forth from behind soundproof doors. It squeezes underneath the already skittering hats, bumping a fuller sound into the experience with some well-placed elements that thump and crack.

However it happened, it’s definitely worth listening to.
