Electronic dance music has dominated the Grammy noms with Disclosure, Duke Dumont, Armin Van Buuren, Calvin Harris, Kaskade and more up for the coveted annual award. It was Daft Punk though that earned the most nominations out of all the electronic stars with nods for ‘Album of the Year’, ‘Record of the Year’, ‘Best Pop Duo/Group Performance’ and ‘Best Dance/Electronica Album’. Not bad off the back of a single album in eight years (almost as if they built it for the Grammys!).

The big one for dance fans will be ‘Best Dance/Electronica Album’ with of course Daft Punks ‘Random Access Memories’ up against Disclosure and their fantastic album ‘Settle’, Calvin Harris’ ’18 Months’ that now holds the Guniness Book of Records for ‘Most Number Ones’ on a single album, dark horse Kaskade with ‘Atmosphere, one of our favourites of the year and Pretty Lights’ ‘A Color Map of The Sun’.

That or ‘Best Dance Recording’ that’ll see British bruiser Duke Dumont face off against Calvin Harris, Kaskade (who’ll play next years Future Music Festival), Armin Van Buuren (for his first nomination ever) and Zedd.

Surprising but happy with the nomination for James Blake in the ‘Best New Artist’ category considering his career now spans 3-4 years but still an encouragement of alternative electronica within the awards.

Hudson Mohawke has two opportunities with his production work on Kanye West and Drakes albums, of which we’d like to see him win at least one so we can watch him plastered on live TV (one can hope).

We’ll keep you updated when the awards air Jan 26th to see if Daft Punk follow in the footsteps of Skrillex’s whitewash last year, earning the OWSLA label owner three Grammys!
