Kingdom‘s Fade To Mind imprint has just released Kelela‘s new mixtape ‘Cut 4 Me’, and it’s 13 tunes of futuristic R&B that have been produced from the likes of Nguzunguzu and the label boss as well as Night Slugs dons Bok Bok, Girl Unit, Jam City and Morri$. It’s the LA singer’s debut tape, but despite the array of club-focused producers on the record it’s not a dance compilation; it’s a triumph of dizzy songcraft. Simply put, it’s one of the most forward thinking projects of the year and it’s damn good.
