Surecut Kids – New Double A-Side Single + Interview

stoneGold Coast residents Surecut Kids have been doing their rounds on the Australian scene for years now and have recently jumped into the studio to write their forthcoming debut album ‘WERK’ which drops in November. Today they announce their first release – double a-side single ‘Show You What I’ve Got / Tangle’.

First off, could you please introduce yourself and tell us a little about SCK?

Im Benjo (AKA Benjamin Honey) and with the other half Paces (AKA Mikey Perry) we are the Surecut Kids. We’re two high school friends that bought turntables together to throw parties and hand get schools wasted. Near 10 years down the track we turned it into a serious (-ish) career touring the country and producing club tracks for other people to get wasted to.

Can you tell us a bit about this release?

The ‘Show You What I’ve Got / Tangle’ release is a double single off our forthcoming album ‘WERK’ which will be released in November. It’s a little taste into what the sounds, diversity and vibe of what you will hear in the album. Kween G from KillaQueens features on ‘Show You What i’ve Got’. It’s a 100bpm 808 bass monster! Then we have ‘Tangle’ a more classic 140bpm Trap joint.

Who are your top 3 producers you look to when producing this style?

Just 3!!! haha We love the Tropkillaz from Brazil at the moment, those guys are doing great 100bpm Twerk stuff. Obviously there is the Baauer and RL Grime dudes. Dj Butcher from Brissy, Sampology, Spenda C… oh i went past 3. My bad

What can we expect from your upcoming tour?

Two over excited dudes jumping around on stage with a confetti cannon. haha. We will come up with some new MPC routines for the tour too. some new tricks in the bag. Just expect a sweaty fun night, cause thats what going out is suppose to be like 🙂

What’s your favourite thing about being a touring producer/dj?

Having people vibing off something you have worked really hard on is really cool, feels surreal sometimes. Also the people we meet, some really great friends has come out of traveling around the country.

Can you tell us something about SCK that we may not know?

Mikey claims to have a high pain threshold when i don’t believe that he does. And i have really old looking hands… like creepy old.
