Stephen Colbert has publicly acknowledged Daft Punks no show on last nights episode dubbed ‘Colbchella’

The French duo we’re planned to perform their smash hit “Get Lucky” alongside a raft of other musicians and celebrities but were pulled only hours before the show was to be taped/aired.

It turned out that Daft Punks management had exclusively signed on with MTV to perform at the VMA’s and thus wouldn’t allow them to perform on The Colbert Report as confirmed earlier in the week.

Toffler, president of MTV and Viacom outlined that since Comedy Central and MTV share the same parent company, they were reserved first dibs but Colbert stated that there was no exclusive deals in place and the robots had effectively chosen to perform at the VMA’s over the ‘Report.

Colbert’s retort has come in the form of a 6 minute video (only on Hulu, sorry Australia), in which the comedian doesn’t hold back in unleashing his distaste for MTV’s own network and more specifically Van Toffler, group president.

Some of the funnier jibes included a poke at the awards ceremony as “the one night of the year they still show music videos.”

Colbert did have the last laugh calling in a few special guests including the cast of Breaking Bad to perform his own version of “Get Lucky”, watch it below.
