Back to TopNewsMysteryland USA: Electronic Music Culture & Arts FestivalWritten by JulianJune 4, 2014 Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States enacted in remembrance of the men and women who died while serving in the country’s armed forces. They fought for our right to so eat, sleep, rave, and repeat, so every year we honor them by going absolutely bonkers for bbqs, beachs, and raging face on our federally mandated Monday off. Kicking off festival season, this year we rolled down the famed Bethel Hills to ID&T‘s inaugural Mysteryland USA. The first event to be granted camping permits on the original Woodstock grounds of 1969, the group set out to combine the longest running electronic music festival in the world with the archetype of classic American revelry. Hit by some initial bad weather, the three day 21+ electro-carnival welcomed over 20,000 people – almost half who camped. The Queen of Heart’s Mainstage played face card kings like Dillon Francis and Kaskade, while the more diverse stretches of the grounds gave way to a Q-Dance hardstyle stage, a bass built Sunday School Mini Fest, and the bigtop pre-party curated by Nicky Romero’s Protocol Records. Days and nights were filled with bright lights, big tents, and booming hearts incubating a special vibe devoid of frothing pre-tots, bulging bros, and any general asshole-ness. Mysteryland filled the emotional void, “true festival experience,” so many production companies try to offer and really became a special place.
