If you thought you’d been seeing more of cassette tapes lately then you wouldn’t be wrong. In the UK cassette sales are double what they were last year at the same time, and while double nothing is still nothing, in this one off, it could be something as it follows a similar trend we’ve been seeing for the past few years.

It seems to come as more popular outlets and larger audience artists are releasing special edition cassette tapes with Kylie Minogue’s Golden being the most sold last year. For more of a dance oriented example though, you only have to look at techno and house artists like Helena Hauff who released her debut album A Tape as a cassette only release.

In saying that however, there are obvious problems that come with cassette tapes, in the way of playability, longevity and more, so I wouldn’t call it a comeback just yet.
