Alcohol fuelled violence is surging in lockout affected areas

A new report by 7 News is claiming that violence in areas affected by lockout laws have actually risen by up to 42%. We don’t usually take the high road on much but we, along with the majority of Sydney, definitely told you so.

The report goes on to detail official crime statistics reporting a heavy increase in violence specifically on Oxford St with more than half of the crime occurring on licenced premises.

It’s now been four years since the lock-out laws have come into place and this report seems to detail what we’d all suspected, that they may not have been the right way to go about curbing violence in our nightlife.

Check out the report and let us know how you feel about it!
