Listen to Skrillex’s booming remix of Pendulum’s ‘The Island’

After keeping a low profile following the collaborative Jack Ü album alongside dance music powerhouse Diplo, Skrillex is proving that he’s still alive and kicking with a new remix of the Pendulum heater ‘The Island’. The remix is rumoured to be released as part of Pendulum’s upcoming remix album which is set to be released in June this year. But to tide us over till then, Ekali has kindly dropped the colossal track during his set at LA’s Novo Club.

Updating the 2010 anthem and launching it into future bass territory, the track builds up from Rob Swire’s bellowing vocals, reaching an ephemeral pre-drop bliss before unleashing a high octane bed of rapid-fire supersaws and slamming drums. Amidst the futuristic bass stylings of current-era Skrillex, we’re also met with the beloved high pitched vocal cuts from the classic dubstep tracks that blessed the airwaves back in 2010. Paying plenty of homage to the original track, the remix uses the barebones of ‘The Island Pt. 1’ to thrust the electro-house inspired track into the current day, filtering the classic track through an innovative new lense.

The forthcoming remix album is said to be released mid-2018, but here’s the rip of Ekali’s set to keep us going till then.
