The Hottest 100 just copped a very fair prediction

The Hottest 100 is in go-mode as of last week, with the triple j opening the flood gates for voters to select their top tunes spun on the channel over the year.

Once again, the predictions are flying all over the place, but none seem to get as close to the mark as Nick Whyte, who for the past few years has been algorithmically predicting the countdown pretty damn accurately.

Whyte’s website, aptly titled 100 Warm Tunas, collects data from social media to determine what the list will look like. Speaking on the process, the site writes “We collect screenshots posted to Instagram tagged with the hashtags #hottest100, #triplejhottest100, #triplejhottest1002017, #hottest1002017, to provide you with an accurate list of songs which could appear in the countdown. Submit your votes by uploading a screenshot and tagging it with one of these tags.

So far 8728 votes have been counted across 999 images, equating to a sample size of about 0.44%+”
