A devastating turn of events has unfolded at a Brazilian music festival when a stage gave way, crushing the DJ and injuring others.

DJ Kaleb Freitas was performing on stage at Atmosphere Festival when the scaffold above the stage crumbled, killing him and leaving others injured while more than 5,000 partygoers watched on.

A spokesperson from Atmosphere Festival has remarked on the tragic occurrence, saying: “We always cherish the security of our audience, following all the processes, reports and authorisations requested by the local authorities. And to our audience we will keep them informed of all our actions to keep the truth about the facts that have occurred. We’re sorry, we lost a friend, an artist.”

“Our priority is to assist the wounded and their families. We thank the military brigade and the fire department for all assistance.”

The stage collapsed following a rush of wind, that – as seen in the video – swiftly crumbled the large-scale stage production. It was reported that the festival organisers decided to more forward with the event despite warnings of gale-force winds.
