Mallrat is back with her sparkling new single ‘Better’

Mallrat – national treasure and queen of casual cool, is back with her first single in over a year, “Better”, and it’s pretty much magic.

Fresh off a huge slot on the Listen Out bill, the 18 year old songstress (aka Grace Shaw) has captured everyones’ attention with her knack for crafting uniquely witty lyrics, a nonchalant delivery, and playful hooks that you won’t be able to shake from your mind. As a recent signee to the legends at Dew Process/Universal Music Australia, her latest tune cements her hold on the one-of-a-kind style she reps.

Better‘ is a nostalgia-filled wonder of a track. Softly-strummed guitars are guided through sparkling chords, alongside a steady acoustic beat. Her vocals guide us through a story that will take you back to the supposedly simpler time of adolescence, with gems such as “Maybe when the summer ends, I’ll drift away from all my friends.” Heavenly synths build up the track’s soaring second half, before ending in her soft-spoken, heartfelt charm. An anthemic change up from her electronic-pop vibes, Mallrat is shining hard.

With ‘Better’ being the first track of her forthcoming EP, set for release in early 2018, we’re more than excited to see what’s coming up for this one.

You can hear the whole track below. Catch Mallrat playing at The Plot on November the 18th. Check those deets right here.
