Listen to Woodes’ powerful new tune ‘Dots’

Melbournite Woodes has given us a massive electro-pop anthem for your weekend. It’s big and ambitious, with a hook that will etch itself in your head and never leave. You’ve heard her on Triple j, seen her in Rolling Stone as well as Pigeons and Planes, and she apparently just knocked it out the park at SXSW. Now she’s proving her worth with her new single ‘Dots’ which definitely has us in for the ride of her future.

It’s a massive track with production that’s lush but expansive, blending a lot of different textures to make this sonically dense track work as a moving pop song. It’s loud and thunderous, but reaches points of complete dimness, but blending them together seamlessly to the point where this track is anything but jarring. The diverse palette of sounds across this track are perfect for the lyrical theme of discovering new territories and growing your own mind in the process.

She sings in a rather understated manner, sitting comfortably in the instrumental rather than trying to match it in liveliness. Her vocal performance works well and serves a nice top layering, while her soft approach to singing makes her message of stepping out into the world feel much more genuine.

Woodes is hitting the road in early March 2018, popping in at Sydney’s Leadbelly, Melbourne’s The Toff, and Brisbane’s Black Bear Lounge.  Check the full tour schedule below and make sure you go check out what those glowing reviews about her SXSW performance are talking about.
