Austen dishes up a brooding new track with ‘Storm’

Brissy has another goodie on their hands with indie-tronica artist Austen. Her new track ‘Storm’ will mellow you out no matter what you’re doing now. Currently on tour with The Kite String Tangle and Golden Vessel, while getting some attention from Triple j and Spotify, Austen has put herself in a solid position and acts on it by coming through with one hell of a tune that really sets a nice vibe.

If you like the alternative pop/R&B sound of the likes of Broods and Banks, you’ll most likely gain something from giving this track a spin. It’s got a real ethereal sound to it but fused very nicely with a brooding tone coming from both the instrumentation and the vocal performance. The chorus chops up her vocals, pitch shifts them, showcases a bunch of interesting production work which surprisingly goes over splendidly with the laid-back instrumental. When Austen is singing, she’s singing with a lot more passion but keeps things really controlled and doesn’t lose touch with the melody. It’s super smooth all-round, and when the groove kicks in it really makes an impression.

Austen has definitely got new music on the way, which will be given to us over the next few months while she makes her journey across the country, playing Melbourne and Perth next week.
