An Aphex Twin classic is being used for a safe-driving advertisement

One of Aphex Twin’s most recognisable tracks, ‘Windowlicker’ has been dusted off for use in a new safe driving advert campaign in the UK.

THINK!, the category of the UK government’s Department Of Transport that deals with road safety, is using the popular track in the campaign titled ‘Pink Kittens’, in an attempt to inform young people of the dangers of using a mobile phone while driving.

The video which runs for a minute and a half, was produced by the ad agency AMV BDDO, directed by We Are From La (the same team who directed Pharrel’s ‘Happy!’). The advert was filmed in the streets of South London, with the aim of showing how a driver moving at 30 miles per hour (48 km/h) can fail to see 100 feet (30 metres) of the road in front of them if they look at their phone for only 2.3 seconds.
