Music festivals are reportedly more popular now than ever

Words by Hannah Prasad

Reports show that the amount of people attending festivals is the greatest it’s ever been.

Festicket – a large scale festival travel platform – have shared findings from their 1 million + subscribers, highlighting trends and numbers that are fuelling the industry and showing that festival goers are more gung-ho now than they have ever been.

The co-founder of the company, Zack Sabban says “More people are going to festivals than ever before, and they’re travelling further to find the experience they’re looking for. At the same time, festivals themselves are diversifying and expanding, creating more choice for fans.”

Festicket’s report looks predominantly into European and American festivals, so it is hard to tell if this is the case for the Australian scene. However, in the past 2-years Australia has had an influx of new festivals, more so than any other year, such as Pitch, Babylon, Sensations and Creamfields, as well as boutique festivals such as Formations, Soft Centre and Output to name a few.

So we put it to you, the people. Are music festivals more popular in Aus now than before?

Check out Festicket’s infographic below for a run down on their number crunching.
