Despite our focus on all things electronic, we have a big old soft spot for hip-hop, particularly the homegrown stuff.
Our good mate and prime selector Spenda C is always loaded with the best new Aussie artists entering the hip-hop world, so we decided it was about time we call up him up and get another Rap Round-Up.
It goes without saying that Australia’s hip-hop scene is growing, and the range of artists out there sharing original and unique music right now is incredible to see.
With that said, check out Spenda C’s five favourite tracks right now from some of Australia’s best up-and-coming MCs.
Carmouflage Rose – Late Nights
Carmouflage Rose has put out a string of dope tracks but he has just dropped his best work to date. Late Nights is low slung jam perfect for well… late night adventures. Brizzy beat master James Angus provides a stripped back almost dancehall vibe that feeds perfectly into Rose’s impeccable flow.
Miss Blanks – Freq U
Miss Blanks has been hitting it out the park all year and Freq U is another home run from the BNE artist. A little more up tempo then her previous releases, Freq U sits somewhere in between dancehall and house making it an instant party jam!.
Lil Spacely – You Know It
Lil Spaceley is one of the best rappers we have. You Know It is a another heavy hitter from the Sydney artists. I’ve been following Spaceley for a while now and I know it’s just a matter of time before he seriously blows up.
Poppy – Ocean
Poppy is a refreshing voice in the modern rap scene. There is an certain honesty and earnest in her lyrics that connect instantly from the first listen. Ocean is a beautiful piece of music and the video is just amazing.
Mallrat – Uninvited
Mallrat has just dropped her video for Uninvited, the title track to her debut EP that dropped last year. This tune is still so dope and the video is super fun. Furry pink pants and burn outs… what’s not to love!

If you dig these tunes, be sure to hit the last Rap Round-Up right here. If you’re up in Brissy this weekend you can catch Spenda C spinning some of these tunes along with his own heavy-hitting originals at The MET this Friday night.
