Goldie has seen and done a lot, including his involvement with Graffiti. However, a recent podcast interview may have seen the drum and bass legend spill a little too much knowledge.
During his interview with Scroobius Pip for a podcast titled Distraction Pieces, Goldie was discussing the art industry, with a particular focus on Banksy and the way in which he has “flipped the art world”.
He said: “Give me a bubble letter and put it on a T-shirt and write “Banksy” on it and we’re sorted. We can sell it now. No disrespect to Robert, I think he is a brilliant artist.”
Although it was only a first name mentioned, this does add fuel to the fire that Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja – a friend of Goldie’s and Banksy’s – could be the otherwise unknown street artist.
Nearly 12-months ago Del Naja denied claims made by journalist Craig Williams that he was Banksy, despite the compelling argument made. He said “It would be a good story but sadly not true. Wishful thinking I think. He is a mate as well, he’s been to some of the gigs. It’s purely a matter of logistics and coincidence, nothing more than that.”
What do you think? Did Goldie let the cat out of the bag for Del Naja or is it a big fat coincidence?
