If there’s one sound that everyone can never seem to get enough of, it’s the sounds of the 80s. Any avid reader of Stoney Roads will know our love of last years Netflix phenomenon Stranger Things, and don’t even start us on that theme song. Channeling a similar vibe, albeit in a far more upbeat and bright way, is Sydney’s newest 80s inspired electronic outfit FROYO and their latest single ‘Darling’, which we’re absolutely stoked to be premiering.
You might remember them for their last track ‘Pride’, which released last year and charted Top 10 in the Spotify Viral 50 chart, and Top 5 in the Electronic Triple J Unearthed charts, throwing them to all kinds of new heights. ‘Darling’ continues on from where ‘Pride’ left off, and is an incredibly successful follow up.
Thick sounding kick drums, plucked guitars and super warm synths are typical of most 80s electronica, but FROYO have brought all of those to the table in such a fresh sounding way. It’s the sort of track you’d kiss your crush to in the middle of the roller-skating rink, or maybe playing through a boombox outside their window, or even just in a convertible driving down the highway.
With so much excellent material under their belt, we can’t wait to see where FROYO go next, and how they get there.
