You Can Buy A Classic Recording Console Used By Pink Floyd

Words by Maria Wang

An Abbey Road Studios EMI TG12345 MK IV recording console, one of only two custom made by EMI engineers, is scheduled to be sold later this month.

The console was used extensively between 1971 and 1983, recording artists such as Paul McCartney, Kate Bush, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, as well as Pink Floyd’s landmark album, The Dark Side of the Moon, recently voted Number One Rock Album of All Time by Rolling Stone magazine.

The console is in full working order and rated by Brian Gibson, the world authority on TG consoles and former Abbey Road engineer, as “the greatest console ever constructed”. It’s set to be auctioned by Bonhams at their ‘TCM Presents…Rock and Roll Through the Lens’ sale in New York on 27 March, but is viewable to the public from 19 March until then.

Check out the photos of the console below… would you cop it for its estimated six-figure price range? It comes with a copy of The Dark Side of the Moon album!
