Muki has put the ‘sass’ in Sassaparilla on her bubbly, colourful and sugar-coated new release.

Listening to Sassaparilla reminds me a little of Japan’s art and pop culture, with their quirkiness and peculiar style. Muki‘s track throws words at you like pink, pop, soda, chiptune and arcade while educating us at the same time with her idea of a fantasy world.  Sassaparilla rocks a catchy hook and the pitched, cartoon-like vocal edits add flair and fun to the track.

Speaking on the release, Muki writes: “Sassaparilla is about being unique, and giving oneself permission to not be another chain in the scene, but allowing yourself to express your individuality. I wrote it out of frustration. I would go to these social events and everyone would look the same, talk the same, and butt-lick each other. I was over it. When you take a sip of Sassaparilla it gives you the freedom to be who you want and say what you want… even if it is a bit sassy.”
