Polographia Share Their 5 Favourite Experimental Artists

When it comes to experimental music, I hold Sydney band Polographia up highly.

The local two-piece are no strangers to the Aus music scene, however over the years they have honed their craft and found a genuine sound and aesthetic that is unique to them, and it is really paying off.

As boundary pushers in their field, we caught up with one-half of the duo, Moktar, to chat about some artists he considers to be the most inspirational to them in terms of experimentation. Here are his choices.

BADBADNOTGOOD

When 3 dudes meet at a Jazz program in Toronto and share the same love for Hip Hop you make a brilliant band. We love everything about BBNG and most of all love their interpretations of hip hop tracks. They are definitely leading the way when it comes to bringing in electronic and jazz. Theses guys a very talented bunch.

Flying Lotus

We all know FlyLo is the godfather of beats and will always be known for it his amazing live visuals. He has definitely taught us a thing or 2 about producing!

FFX

There’s no hiding their from Berlin with their sensual soothing sound and memorising melodies. Adding a touch of some minimal tech with really tweaked vocal lines FFX are one of my favs for me.

Bonobo

So many beautiful texture and layers. When it comes to Bonobo he is the gift that keeps giving! Always full of surprises in his sampling and raw recordings. He is a very big inspiration to us.

Seekae

Australia’s most iconic electronic band. Always full of surprises and will always be great to us.

Be sure to catch Polographia tonight at Banquet, The World Bar. Click here for more info on that gig.
