The Chemical Brothers Have Perfectly Created Their Own Anthem

“Track id?” many people the globe over have been asking of some thick acid The Chemical Brothers have been playing in their most recent live sets. Premiering on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show last night as her ‘Hottest Record’, is exactly that track, ‘C-h-e-m-i-c-a-l’.

Opening with a crowd’s cheers to just the sound of their name, ‘C-h-e-m-i-c-a-l’ is deliciously self-indulgent, and never goes too far. It’s made even better by the fact that the sounds getting used here are so classic and timeless. There’s a thickness to everything in this release that simply cannot be put into words. The sounds of the crowd at the start put you right there in a packed out stadium listening to ‘C-h-e-m-i-c-a-l’ live, and it fits perfectly.

Given that there’s the word ‘edit’ in the title, and that it’s a pretty measly three minutes long, we can only hope that there’s plenty more of this anthem laying in wait further down the track.
