Melbourne based producer Callum Baker or better known as elkkle just released ‘Don’t Look Down‘ – the first of two tracks yet to be released this year. Don’t look down is an undoubtedly conceptual track that incorporates electronica and explores notions of freedom and self-trust.
Speaking on the track, elkkle stated that it was written at a time of both fear self-awareness; “I was about to finish University, I was in a relationship, I was living independently – and with all this came a cloud of uncertainty between myself and my future. Sometimes the ground beneath you might seem so far away that looking down can only hold you back from climbing higher” – elkkle
With main influencers being the likes of Nicolas Jaar & Arca, elkkle has created a unique sounding track that transcends the typical atmosphere of electronic music and explores the more physical notions of space, movement, ascent and he does this with melancholic synths and beats.
“‘Don’t Look Down’ kind of became my mantra. It reminds me to breath, trust myself and continue onward” he says.
