Watch out, you never know when someone could be spying on you every time you use your earphones!
Researchers confirmed that hackers across the globe could very well be spying on you via the microphones on headphone and earphones. It’s almost like what the creators of Netflix’s ">Black Mirror are trying to warn us about when using everyday technology.
Although the idea of listening in on conversations isn’t entirely new, what stumped researchers was everyday conversation being recorded when the headphones weren’t in use or disabled. Creepy.
You’re probably wondering ‘How the hell..?’ but studies revealed that “the method worked through a specific malware which repurposes a speakers’ earbuds into a microphone, converting the vibrations in air into electromagnetic signals to clearly capture audio from across a room,” Wired reports. “Perhaps most alarming, the hacked headphones can theoretically record audio from up to 20 feet away.”
Yikes.
