London’s Field Day festival has this morning dropped a huge hint about a very rare Aphex Twin inclusion in next year’s festival.
Via their Twitter, the festival posted a lo-fi VHS style video of a pair of painted hands scratching off the date and name of the artist from a picture of his own face – a la scratchie. The same flyers were also handed out at the Independent Label Market in London, where Aphex’s label Warp made an appearance. The flyers have also apparently been popping up in other locations around the UK.

Aphex Twin is set to play his first US date in 8 years next month at Day For Night festival in Houston, Texas. The enigmatic producer rarely plays live, but these could be a part of a bigger plan of tours and shows around the world. Will we get to see him in Australia? Our fingers are crossed.
