Acid House Legend DJ Spank-Spank Has Died

Legendary Acid House lord DJ Spank-Spank (Earl Smith Jr) has passed away.

The news was broken by The Black Madonna via Twitter last night, causing a lot of confusion and concern, all of which was confirmed on Facebook by Phuture‘s page – the trio made up of Spank, DJ Pierre and Herb J – in the way of a post from the management.

Speaking on his legacy, Phuture’s manager, Dragan Greensmith, wrote “Spank is (was) a legend. We will for certian [sic] continue the work he’s started on his final album project and his innovations in music. Please for now: Pray for his family and DJ Pierre his brother. Allow them time to grieve. We will come back with news.”

They continued in a more recent post “When DJ Pierre and Spank Spank defined Phuture…the main concept was developed to shake things up. They were the Public Enemy of dance music. They spoke about drugs, racism, self hate etc. Today we received the message below and immediately knew Spank Spank smiled and said ” mission accomplished “.

The reason behind DJ Spank Spank’s death is yet to be revealed, however it is known that he suffered a stroke in May.
