10 Tracks Your Dad Needs To Hear On Father’s Day After A Few Beers

Father’s Day is this Sunday, September 4th, and it is one of those days where Dad will – for better or for worse – get loose.

With that said, once the beers start going down like water it’s smart to have a playlist on the ready for the old man to get down to, and if you dad is anything like my own, he doesn’t mind a wide variety of music in his life.

Here are ten tracks you need to line-up for father’s day celebrations when everyone is on the turps.

1: I Get Knocked Down – Chumbawamba

This track is without question a favourite for any and all dad’s. If your old man hasn’t screeched this one out at the local with a few of the gents then I’d be asking questions.

2: All Star – Smash mouth

Who can say no to this golden oldie? This one is for the dad’s who have done it tough. Another lyrical one that every bloke who has been sipping beers for excess of 15 years would know.

3: Freestyler – Bomfunk MCs

This track might not be from dad’s era, but as potentially the first dance track you started listening to, he’ll certainly remember it. Cue the stiff, awkward dance motions.

4: Superstylin’ – Groove Armada

The ‘sound of the Groove Armada’ is definitely a familiar one for dad. Probably his favourite track from the 90’s.

5: Sandstrom – Darude

Memes aside, this song is probably the most well received dance music anthem that dad will know, and lets face it, the whole family will appreciate a little sandstorm come Sunday evening.

6: Bad Touch – Bloodhound Gang

This is another one of those pub-friendly bangers from the late 90s. Again, it might not be specifically dad’s era, but he has certainly tapped the foot along to this one on the sly back in the day.

7: Intergalactic – Beastie Boys

Dad’s got a yearning for some hip hop now, and when dad wants hip hop, it’s always Beastie Boys. “None of the crap you listen to these days has anything on these blokes” he will say…

8: You’re The One For Me – D Train

The night is getting on now, time to dust off some of dad’s vinyl! This one will certainly get the vibe right.

9: Your Love – Frankie Knuckles

It’s now closing in on 10pm, mum’s had a few to many wines and is sleeping on the couch, but dad’s record player is in full swing, and we’ve just discovered his secret Frankie Knuckles stash.

10: Never Gonna Give You Up – Rick Astley

Just when you thought Sandstorm was too much to handle, dad’s chucks this classic on. Keep in mind he is totally oblivious to meme this song has become. It doesn’t take long til dad calls it a night after this…

Hope you all enjoy the list guys, be sure to give them a crank on Sunday.

Let us know if we missed any classics!
