YouTube Announces 360 Video Live Streaming and Spatial Audio

YouTube has announced that it has brought streaming audiences one step closer to being able to immerse themselves in their favourite concerts or sports game from the comfort of their own home.

The video giant first launched support for 360 degree videos back in March of 2015, where musicians, athletes, and solo users have been able to do incredible things with the technology. Now, they have one-upped themselves and introduced 360 degree live streaming to certain videos on the website.

In particular, YouTube are bringing viewers 360 degree live streaming to Coachella, which they have live streamed for the past couple of years. In doing so, they bring those fans that can’t afford the festival closer to the Californian desert.

As well as this, they have launched spatial audio for on-demand YouTube videos, where viewers will be able to listen along to their favourite videos as they would in real-life: where depth, intensity, and distance all play a role.
