My 5: TOKiMONSTA Shares Her Favourite Tracks From Other L.A. Locals

TOKiMONSTA is one hard working woman.

The LA native has been turning a lot of heads in the past 12-months, and we were lucky enough to hang out with her when she was in Australia to chat about tour life.

The uber-talented TOKiMONSTA has an album dropping this month, titled ‘Fovere’ (you can check out a cut from the album with a video here) so we caught up with her to find out what LA locals she is listening too at the moment.

1: KEHLANI – NIGGAS (MIKE GAO REMIX)

Mike Gao is a jack of all trades. He produces, and also has apps he’s created to help producers write music. He uses his app Polyplayground on all his music and I must say, it’s really good. This remix of his is my fav.

2: ALEXANDER LEWIS. – 5

Alexander Lewis is the next “it” producer from LA in my opinion. His music has a lot of soul and the production is insane. I really appreciate his use of harmonics and music theory.

3: CARMACK – ALL IN, WITH KEHLANI – #SONGSFROMSCRATCH

I always like seeing Carmack making beats that are outside of what people may expect of him. He’s incredible prolific, so this is really just one of many tracks of his I like.

4: ANDERSON PAAK – AM I WRONG FT. SCHOOLBOY Q

Anderson Paak is my fam. I only want the best things from him and this track with Schoolboy Q produced by Pomo is a great reminder of how amazing he is. LA’s shining star for sure.

5: GOLDLINK – ZIPPORAH (GRAVEZ REMIX)

Graves is a transplant from the ATL, but I’m glad he’s in LA. He’s a great producer and has an amazing range – hard aggressive low end beats and some amazing soulful ones like this vibey remix of Goldlink.

Here is what went down when we saw TOKi last!
