Tokimonsta Releases Video for ‘Put It Down’ Ahead of Album Release

Ahead of the release of her latest album Fovere next month, late last week Tokimonsta released the video for ‘Put It Down’, the album’s first single. It’s got fellow Cali producer KRNE on it, and Anderson .Paak on vocals – freshly signed to Dr. Dre’s label Aftermath – so you know it’s going to be pretty huge.

From the get go the video seems like it was made by David Lynch – the red rooms and the strange little vignettes in them are super reminiscent of Twin Peaks. It works well with Toki’s bouncy string intros, and though it doesn’t seem to have much of a story or relation to the track, it’s super entertaining to watch. The track itself flows really well as well – with Toki’s strings moving into KRNE’s typical bass heavy chorus seamlessly. Anderson .Paak and Tokimonsta have worked together before, and it shows in the way his vocal range is able to bounce around all the instrumentation and percussion.

If ‘Put It Down’ is anything like the full album, Fovere should be a huge record. You can also listen to another single, I’m Waiting here, and check the full track list (including features) below. Keep it locked here for all news Tokimonsta, with Fovere dropping March 4th.

We caught up with Tokimonsta last time she was in town, which you can watch below!
