Queensland Set to Introduce Lockout Law

It has just been confirmed that Queensland will be introducing a lockout for pubs and clubs..

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced that a deal has been made between two crossbench MP’s in order to pass the State Government’s lockout law, which will likely be 2am.

The Tackling Alcohol-Fuelled Violence Legislation Amendment Bill will come under debate later today, imposing that last drinks at 2am or at the latest 3am, kicking off on July 1.

It was also agreed upon with both Katter’s Australian Party MPs that drug offenders can become banned from “Safe Night” precincts in the State.

In agreeing to this deal with the State Government, the KAP won the compromise of having the initial 1am lockout in entertainment precincts  pushed back until July 2017.

Here is the nitty gritty of the deal, courtesy of  Chris O’Brien.
