Watch Flux Pavilion Make A Banger In 10 Minutes

Flux Pavillion is easily one of dubstep’s biggest exports, in no short part due to his 2010 hit ‘I Cant Stop’ – a track which catapulted him into the limelight and in turn resulting in career-changing collaborations with Dillion Francis, Steve Aoki and Childish Gambino.

Against the clock is a series created by Fact Magazine which entails giving an artist 10 minutes in the studio and basically seeing what they can create. On Flux’s against the clock, he paired future-bass-esque synths atop hard hitting punchy drum work, intertwined with his own pitched up vocals – a style we don’t commonly associate with the producer.

He explained the technique he uses when pitching to FACT TV after the session: “I usually pitch everything down six or seven semi tones, then sing it in my normal voice, then pitch it back up again so it becomes high pitched (or a naturally sung high pitch). You’re not just pitching something up so it has to fit. Sometimes it’s interesting to do harmonies low and then sing your normally over the top, it brings this really weird effect.”
