Nicole Millar Finally Releases ‘Wait’

If there’s one voice in Australian dance music that stands out among all the rest, it’s Nicole Millar. She’s featured on some of the biggest tracks of the last year, from Peking Duk’s High to Golden Features’ Tell Me, which have all been absolutely huge both at home and overseas. Though she’s featured a lot, Nicole hasn’t released anything solo since her single Taken over a year ago, and some unlikely covers she did with Zuri Akoko a few months back. That changed today, with Millar releasing her latest single, Wait.

While her past singles have largely been very bright and lush on the synths, Wait is very minimal in its production, opting for guitar rather than synth, and simple but funky percussion. It places huge emphasis on Nicole’s voice rather than any other element, which sounds absolutely gorgeous. The whole track feels really natural – it builds perfectly into the chorus, with no element ever feeling out of place.

No doubt this is only the start of a wave of new tunes from Nicole. She was signed to Universal Music in May of this year, with this being the first release she’s put on the label. If Wait is anything to go by, we should be getting real excited.
