There’s turntables for kids now

Vinyls aren’t just for revivalists and DJs – now, thanks to Jack White’s Third Man Records, they’re for kids too.

Vinyls have had one hell of a resurgence over the past couple years, to the point where they’re now even being sold in supermarkets. But until now, there haven’t been that many child-friendly versions. Until now, that is.

Third Man Records, alongside fellow label Light In The Attic, have teamed up to release a record player and vinyl for young children – and yes, it plays children’s music.

Due out November 6, the portable turntables come with a whole bunch of extras, including built-in speakers, headphone inputs, USB and more. Third Man have also gone so far as to include a physical children-themed vinyl.

Like those old children’s books, the record’s title “This record Belongs To ______” encourages kids to personalise the record and make it their own. It’s a compilation of music by artists ranging from Woody Guthrie and Carole King, to Nina Simone and Kermit The Frog.

There’s two sides, of course. Side A is “Daytime Dancin'”, while Side B is “Bedtime Lullabies.” It also comes with an original book by Jess Rotter, about a bunch of animal friends who discover a record in the forest. They proceed to learn all about vinyl, and the rest is history.

Check the tracklist below, some more images of the player, and hit up Third Man Records to preorder it just in time for Christmas – that is, if you haven’t already bought the kids this book about DJing.
