DJ T. – All Nite EP [AUS Music]

When it comes to top-drawer house and techno releases Will Saul’s AUS Music imprint always delivers. This trend has continued with German veteran DJ T. making his debut with the much-heralded label, in the shape of a two-track release titled, ‘All Nite’, put out on the 8th of August. The EP is impressive, but this doesn’t come as any surprise considering DJ T., aka Thomas Koch, has been contributing in an array of capacities to the electronic music scene for over 20 years now. His experience shines through in this release; the presence of only two tracks doesn’t seem to limit its diversity in terms of the atmosphere it creates and number of suitable locations for consumption.

The title track is a certified belter. ‘All Nite’ creates a dark and sinister vibe through the inclusion of layered and withdrawn vocals, and hefty bassline. The percussion strikes you like something found deep beneath the sticky, ill-lit dance floors that this cut is so perfectly rendered for. This track definitely has some weight to it and is primed for those ominous, smoke-filled early morning slots.

The second track in the release, ‘Euphoria’, is a more flexible track, in the sense that it has its place in the club, yet still holds that summertime casual rotation appeal. The infectious soulful and repetitive vocal sample, analogue drums and simply ‘euphoric’ synth work all play its role in creating a track that is sure to be rinsed around the country when the infamous warmer months roll around.

It may be his first release in four years, but DJ T. certainly hasn’t lost his ability to create high calibre tracks.
