Highlights of the Week: Top 5 Aussie Picks

With a constant flow of new music flooding our ears, we thought it was a good time to bundle together some of the incredible local talent we have come across in the last week. There have been some absolute banging tracks that have been unleashed, so here is a small handful of them in one tidy place for your listening pleasure.

Dom Dolla & Go Freek – Define (Cassian Remix)

It’s always exciting to see Cassian’s name pop up alongside a new song, and yet again the quality of his work is top notch. The artist combo is a Sweat It Out dream team, with Cassian stating “towards the end of the tour the guys (Dom Dolla and Go Freek) asked if I’d be into remixing it and I said yes before they could properly finish the question”. By keeping the vocals organic Cassian has been able to infuse them with warping synths, catchy melodies and not to mention those “extra crunchy drums” asserting his role as master of percussion. A pumping deep house record.

Polographia – Rhythm (Ft. Jordan Padilla)

Changing it up a little, Polographia are a duo out of Sydney who have just dropped their first single. Featuring soft squelching synths, melodic guitar plucks and jungle-disco-style percussion that will take you far away from your cold, unheated bedroom and deep into a tropical night club. It’s the kind of track that you just want to keep on loop, filling the speakers with some damn good vibes. Keep an eye on these guys as ‘Rhythm’ is a teaser from their new ‘Natural’ EP, which is coming soon.

Lancelot – Everything on it’s way down

Sydney boy Lancelot has a new EP out via Waze & Odyssey Street Tracks called Mover. His track ‘Everything On Its Way Down’ is quintessential Lancelot; rolling percussion and warming vocals that suit each other just oh so right. The track will put you in a trance, and before you know it, that glorious 5 minutes is over.

Yahtzel – Plasm

Part B of his new EP ‘Art Room’ encompasses what would definitely be the essence of Yahtzee’s music – a refreshing, tropical explosion of unidentifiable sounds that sends a chill down your spine whilst at the same time getting you up and moving. The reggae-esque vibe is more than welcomed, even better, this one is up for free download.

Flight Facilities – Heart Attack (Julian Hamilton Re-Work)

Last but definitely not least is Julian Hamilton’s (one half of The Presets) rework, an atmospheric and cruisey tune that embraces everything that the original is about, yet strays from the path of other remixes with a more tender-hearted approach. Need we say more?
