We Got so Lost in Miami

Two sunrises, four stages, and the psychedelic quartet of Wizardry. The magic of Crosstown Rebels was witnessed in its 10th year this year in the Wynwood district of downtown Miami. Full of heavy hitters from all over the globe, Damien Lazarus and friends transformed the hip LMNT studios into a techno circus of epic proportions.

After the demise of the infamous Ice Palace venue, this year’s move brought a real refresher in terms of atmosphere to the iconic Miami Music Week event. Although the waterfront setting of South Beach was missed, the Crosstown crew transformed the studio into the ideal space. Need a dark and sweaty warehouse banger to give your sunburn a break? Got it. Graf-blasted block party with Dirtybird and Ellen Allen at the helm? Check. Or maybe, just a Cozy Corner to snag a disco nap with a couple of new found buddies. All bases were covered in this dreamy experience put on by Damian and crew.

Staggering through the party, DJs and dancers alike groove around the main stage to a hedonistic blend of techno and house Dj sets and live performances including the likes of Thugfucker, Ali Love, and DJ Tennis. Our afternoon favorite came in the form of Bob Moses and friends (since Miami is basically a massive brb). Holding off a thunderstorm by playing a slew of unheard underground anthems, Moses pleased the sober dedicated dancers and even the ketta-krew.

The creativity and professionalism of Get Lost was readily apparent in the faces of both Djs and paying customers. Smiling security guards, stellar sound systems, and a thoughtful line up rivaling not only Ultra, but the entire MMW made this event a perfect escape from the Miami trash we all know and hate. Crosstown Rebels have mastered the simple formula; Top techno + super sound + chill vibes + drugs = excellent experience. Now lets just hope that next year gets extended to 48 hour, because 24 wasn’t enough for me!

P.S Shoutout to the dope sewing girl who made me a something cape gnarly!
