Sydney Boat Cruise Shut Down Amid Overdoses and Violence

Good Friday was marred by news of a Sydney boat cruise headlined by Mashd n Kutcher, Some Blonde DJ, Kronic and more was shut down with reports of overdoses and violent altercations.

New South Wales Police offered a statement outlining the reason for attending, the concerns and eventual closure of the Dirty Funken Beats boat party.

The boat left King Street wharf about midday (Friday 3 April 2015), with police called to Man O’ War Steps about 2.30pm, after initial reports patrons on the boat were yelling and swearing at those on shore.

Police spoke with the licensee of the vessel after concerns were raised over passengers allegedly consuming prohibited drugs.

Three males, who are all suspected of having adverse reactions after consuming unknown substances, have been taken to St Vincent’s Hospital. Their current conditions are unknown.

Two additional males were arrested after a fight broke out as they were alighting from the vessel. A police officer was also assaulted while trying to intervene.

The three party-goers are thought to have consumed ecstasy dubbed “blue scissors” including one man who was thought to have taken four at once before being rushed to hospital in critical condition according to SBS.

Promoters have yet to issue a statement on their official Facebook page but a number of attendees have requested refunds for the cruise that was shut hours early.

It’s thought the promoters are behind previous events at Greenwood, FAKE nightclub and The Parlour club on Oxford Street.

The cancellation also affected the following cruise Ship Faced headlined by Andre Crom (GER), Touch Sensitive, SAFIA and more after the boat was ordered to return to the docks for 72 hours by Police.
