Flume, Hermitude, Thomas Jack To Play Lightning In A Bottle Festival

Lightning in a Bottle will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this Memorial Day weekend (May 21 – 25th) at the San Antonio Recreation Area in Central California. The nature orientated event affectionately referred to as LIB seeks not only to elevate the musical experience, but also the mindset of its attendees and takes great pride in the fact that it’s the most environmentally conscious festival in America.

LIB is put on by spectacular production team The Do LaB, who have made a name for themselves through their forward-thinking events and by cultivating together their own lineup each year at Coachella. The Do Lab Stage has become synonymous with unique art installations, eclectic beats, and massive water guns that serve as a break from the relentless desert sun.

This year, the festival is bringing together over 100 musical acts from 11 countries around the globe. While only 3 of the acts are Aussie born, they are all nestled near the top of the lineup and sure to be crowd favorites. Australia will be well represented this year by Future Classic’s own Flume, tropical house pioneer Thomas Jack, instrumental hip-hop and electronic legends Hermitude, and finally New Zealand transplant OPIUO and his renowned live band.

Beyond that, names like SBTRKT, ODESZA, RL Grime, AlunaGeorge, Bakermat, KOAN Sound, Shiba San, SNBRN, and Tycho will also be making major waves, but don’t forget to explore some of the smaller stages to uncover a plethora of rising talent. This is something LIB has always been known for, serving as a jumping off for many of today’s most promising acts.

More than just a music festival though, Lightning in a Bottle seeks to “allow you to lose yourself in an entire universe of play” filled with art installations, pop-up art cars, and even a frontier themed area complete with a trading post. LIB also offers workshops, speakers, yoga, meditation, cooking and nutrition classes, along with a myriad of other activities to nurture your soul when your body may need a rest from dancing.

Not convinced yet? Check out the 2015 official video “Anything is Possible” for a mesmerizing peek into the magical oasis that is Lighting in a Bottle. As they say in the video, “we need to create what we see is missing.” The spirit and mission of LIB is defined by these words, and serves as celebration of life, its people, and the sounds that people have made to move us.
