How The Internet Changed Dance Music: Music Production

If there’s one thing we could point out that’s had a monumental effect on the uprising of electronic music, it is the birth of social media on the internet.

Do you remember the internet pre-social media? Dance floors were full! But imagine a reality in which we couldn’t all share music and creativity on SoundCloud, stream stuff on the way to work or get together at parties over playlists and events organised online. Technology has brought music to the masses, and taken the masses back to music.

From production to consumption and of course the community that drives it, things have drastically changed in the last 10 years for all of us but still we wonder, why do we keep on dancing together?

Thanks to the team at Jack Daniel’s Honey we’ve chased down some key figures of the dance music world who share the voice of the this generation. We’re getting the inside scoop on the future of music – where we discover new music, the modern day role of the DJ/Producer and most importantly, which beats can bring the crowds together and keep you on the d’floor.

This included Yolanda Be Cool, Bag Raiders, Wordlife and Sasha Skalrud, Golden Features’ manager.

We are millions of music fans and together we have created – and continue to create –this music phenomenon. All cliches aside – that’s pretty awesome.

Huge thanks to Yolanda Be Cool, Bag Raiders, Wordlife and Sasha Skalrud (Golden Features’ manager). This is the first episode in a series of four. We’ll release episode two shortly!

This video series is powered by our friends at Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey. To
celebrate our comradeship and the evolution of dance music – Jack Daniel’s Honey and Stoney Roads are giving you the chance to win a weekend away for you and your crew.

All you have to do is tell us in 25 words (or less), where you and your mates like to swarm to for a good time. Our favourite answer will be sipping their next Jack Honey & Dry in a beach house in Byron Bay! How about that? To enter click here.
