Zedd and Selena Gomez could quite possibly be one of the most good-looking and powerful (rumoured) couples in EDM. The duo dropped their highly anticipated collaborative efforts just today, entitled I Want You To Know. Within merely one hour of it’s release, the electronic dance number had already shot up to number one on the iTunes chart. Power.
Gomez has been sliding into the dance music scene for quite some time now. Her 2013 album Stars Dance definitely fringed on Pop/EDM genres and featured some notable dance collaborators – StarGate, Rock Mafia and The Cataracs to name a few. She’s been edging on onto pop/dance for quite some time now, so it only makes sense that Zedd would have her feature on one of his tracks.
Composition-wise, I Want You To Know follows typical Zedd conventions that he’s adopted in past hits “Stay The Night” and “Clarity”. His production style of synthesisers compromised by female hooks howling out about the trials and triumphs of being in love have undoubtedly been embraced in this one. Gomez’s rather temperamental voice has been exposed whilst Zedd incorporates a slow build-up before dropping a kaleidoscope of heavy synths.
