Caribou Drops a Surprise Live Album & New Mix for BBC Radio

Just incase you needed some more listening material after sifting through Caribou’s (aka Dan Snaith)  1000 track mixtape we have for you a brilliant new live album from the Caribou Vibration Ensemble as well as a new two-hour mix for BBC Radio 6. You’re welcome.

For those unaware, over the past few years Snaith has put together a live band he named the Caribou Vibration Ensemble, featuring the genius minds of Four Tet, James Holden, Sinkane and many more. Layering sounds that produce a uniquely atmospheric feel, it is textbook Caribou; melding together psychedelic, folktronic and dance, all recorded in high quality to release a very special record for our listening pleasure.

This time the album takes us back to their 2011 tour consisting of three tracks; ‘Bowls’ and ‘Sun’ were recorded live at Concertzaal Vooruit in Ghent, Belgium and ‘Ahmed, Colin, James, Kieran, Kyle, Rob and Steve’ was recorded at Scala in London, UK. Needless to say it is a much appreciated surprise and you can stream the album in full below. Snaith also stated on his twitter account that all proceeds from the album’s sales will go to Gendered Intelligence “in memory of our dear friend Julia Brightly” so you can purchase the record online in digital form.

Oh, but wait, there’s more. Snaith has also gone ahead and shared a new two-hour mix, delving into his catalogue of musical inspriations for BBC Radio 6. Stream it now and check out the set list over HERE. Whilst these treats will suffice for now, the anticipation to see him live at Laneway in February is at an all time high
