Why Seth Troxler Believes The Underground Is Key To Dance Musics Survival

Seth Troxler has made it clear that the American-centric EDM and pre existing underground dance music scenes have remained separate entities.

At the just passed edition of ADE, the Mexican techno lord spoke out on the subject at a keynote talk, quoting:

“I feel like EDM and underground dance music shouldn’t necessarily be united, as we don’t share common goals or interests. When I got into electronic music as a kid, the whole point was it existed outside the establishment and allowed us to be who we really are.”

Having had ‘EDM’ hit critical mass in the US and the rise of other sub genre including ‘deep’ or club house, trap and more Troxler continued:

“And after all the commercialisation of the past few years, I think people are really coming back to the idea of real truth in music, the deepness of that. That’s what will sustain it in the future.”
