In top tastemaker conference Amsterdam Dance Event is just around the corner. Heralded as one of the most unique working forums for dance music today. Hosting the who’s who across music, the biggest names behind the decks and behind the scenes descend on the hedonists’ favorite city. What’s often forgotten hidden behind the flashing lights of the main stage is a rich underground dance climate home grown in Amsterdam.
Responsible for the roots of many tops Djs today, Amsterdam sits at the center of European electronic culture. Sure it may not be as hip as Berlin or as rowdy as Croydon, but for a bit of spliff and tons of techno, this city of canals is prime.
In advance of ADE, we caught up with legendary local underground club artist San Proper to get a feel of the favorite sounds around the area. Boasting a vibrant scene of late night events in drive venues across the city, it’s all about the music in Amsterdam. From the forbidden streets of Amsterdam to the sandy shores of Ibiza, tight knit crews of locals are slinging solid tracks to make up for bad influence Dirty Dutch had on EDM.
