It is well known that Sydney is one of the best places in the world to be for NYE and we work hard to to keep it that way from year to year whether you’re at the beach, on the harbour or in the city. Keeping that in mind, picture a crystal clear night, a Bondi beach backdrop, the big midnight countdown, fireworks and to top it off – some of the best acts in the world pumping tunes deep into the morning of the new year. Well unfortunately for now there will be no more after the disappointing news that Shore Thing has been cancelled for this year.

Shore Thing released a statement on their Facebook:

“After lengthy discussions with Council and other stakeholders, it has been agreed that the Shore Thing event will not take place this New Years Eve at Bondi Beach… We’d like to thank everyone who has been involved with Shore Thing over the years, and of course all the people who chose it as their new year’s eve party. Hopefully it will be back in 2015…”

With acts such as What So Not, Skrillex, Carl Cox, Fatboy Slim and Chemical brothers taking to the stage in previous years we thought we’d celebrate the lengthy lifetime of Shore Thing and take a look at some of the best moments (attempted to be) recorded of the festival. Unfortunately the filming is pretty average on most of these, but at least thats a good sign that people have been watching the acts as opposed staring at the acts through their phones.

Maybe a good reason to ‘take it easy’ for Field Day…
