Project Pablo – Utensils EP [Hybridity]

As far as Chicago inspired tech-house releases this year, this one for me takes the cake. The all Canadian affair involving Project Pablo on the Hybridity imprint, have delivered the ‘Utensils’ EP, which is simply straight fire.

The three track release, which is his second in 2014 for the Vancouver label, sees Patrick Holland employ the soul-laced vocal samples for ‘Blender’ and ghetto themed for ‘Instant Coffee’, which have become synonymous with the Chicago House movement. Both these track contain serious groove and the dancefloor appeal is palpable.

Personal favourite ‘Fork’ is a serious tune. The filtered gospel-like vocals and hight-hat work gets those shoulders rolling erratically as the 5:36 cut is relentless in the vibe department.

Available on 12″ and in digital form.
