Jacques Greene – 1 4 Me [LuckyMe]

Elusive experimental producer Jacques Greene has announced the release of an upcoming EP on the LuckyMe imprint titled After Life After Party through the premiering of the video for the ‘1 4 Me’ cut.

Since releasing ‘Another Girl’ back in 2011, the Canadian has built a strong reputation for producing emotive tracks with an R&B element always lingering. If this single is anything to go by, it’s Jacques doing what Jacques does best.

“These tracks were born out of experimenting with a bit of self-imposed restraints,” Greene tells The Fader. “Afterlife was a particular sound palette I wanted to stick to and see what would come of it. 1 4 Me was trying to challenge myself to keep an arrangement dead simple. They came out of a period that was actually really prolific for me and I hope to share more soon, but these two stuck together with a playful spirit. Some fun for the end of summer, as we tread into winter.”

The breakdown from 2:20 to the climax at 3:20 is really what makes this a special tune, as the prominent synth work combined with Greene’s signature bass and percussion work results in a simply beautiful track.

The EP, which includes four tracks, one of which is an exciting remix from Sei A, is set for release on the 11th of November. You can stream the video for ‘1 4 Me’ below.
