Simian Mobile Disco Announce new Album ‘Whorl’

Simian Mobile Disco have always been know for some real out of the box shit but this time they seriously went on a visionquest into the desert. This past April, the live dance duo headed into the dry southern California wilderness armed with mixers and modular synths. A three-day jam session ensued in the midst of a desolate landscape. After the dust settled, the crew emerged with a 12-track live album.

Previewing their upcoming live tour, Simian Mobile Disco debut the album to Cali fans in a real live wild west setting at Pioneertown. Using an oscilloscope, a video camera, and more technology we don’t fully understand, SMD will compliment their audio with live shot visuals in a creative web we can’t really trace.

“…the system we’re using has limited ability to save patterns in the sequencer, but nothing like the flexibility of a computer. Live performance and studio composition are essentially now the same process…”

The album won’t be available until September. In advance of the full release, Whorl’s first single Tangents will be served up on Anti Records the 1st of July. Based on Simian’s fascination for audio hardware and a unique analog live set, we can expect nothing short of extraordinary on the upcoming album.
